A spacious luxury villa with well-established garden

Villa le Murier is a perfect venue for large groups and families. Comprised of five bedrooms, this lovely home offers many private areas for thoughtful repose and other spaces in which to gather, such as the spacious living room, large kitchen, and family room. The attractive grounds are anchored by a pool and several inviting terraces.

Le Murier is named for the lovely Murier Platane tree which dominates the entrance and parking area for the villa. It is Henry IV of France (1553-1610) who imposed on the farmers of Provence to plant Murier trees to raise silkworms, and you will still find many of the original trees here.

Plenty of room for everyone

This 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom villa offers guests a relaxing holiday in a quiet, rural setting. It’s  a little paradise for adventurous, imaginative children who like to explore. Villa le Murier is also very close to Lourmarin (walking from the house along a small path called St André, you will be in the village within 12 minutes).

The house can accommodate up to 10 people. It has a spacious living room with three French doors, making it bright yet cool in the Provence summer.

Guests can swim or sit by the 11m x 5m pool or on a south-facing terrace with a glass of rosé and enjoy the full sunshine and balmy weather of Provence. There are two outdoor dining areas, one facing the pool and garden, the other covered as well, adjacent to the petanques (boulles) court.

Head indoors

The entrance, living room, dining room, dining area, two bedrooms, separate TV room and large outside terrace are at ground level, while the kitchen is one level down. Move up a level from ground, to access two of the en-suite bedrooms.

Four of the bedrooms have two beds which can be used as twins or combined to make a king-sized bed. In addition, there is a comfortable, independent studio with a queen-sized bed, which is available if needed.

All five bathrooms at Villa le Murier are modern, with tiled floors and showers; one bathroom has a tub/shower. Four of the bathrooms are en-suite, one is adjacent to the 5th bedroom. There are hair dryers in each bathroom.

The newly-renovated kitchen is bright and very well equipped with microwave, dishwasher, induction stove top, oven and an American fridge with ice-maker. There is a generous island for food prep or dining.

Other amenities

Other amenities/facilities at Villa le Murier include a barbecue, private pool, parking, garden, ironing board, iron, washing machine and tumble dryer. All linens and towels, including pool towels, are provided.

There is wifi access throughout the property, with TV (UK and US channels).

Perhaps the greatest asset of the villa is its location in Provence – it’s very central. The property is just a 12-minute walk from the picturesque town of Lourmarin, which is known as the cultural hub of the Luberon and said to have the best weekly market in the area.

From Lourmarin it is possible to explore several natural parks like Les Alpilles (in St-Rémy), La Camargue with its wild horses (in Sainte-Marie-De-La Mer), and the Gorges du Verdon park, one of the most beautiful canyon in France. All are only an hour or 90 minutes’ drive from Lourmarin.

Other picturesque villages within a few minutes’ drive of Villa le Murier include Cucuron, Ansouis and Vaugine. Aix-en-Provence is less than 30 minutes away and the Aix TGV station and Marseilles Marignan Airport are within an hour’s drive.

Excellent place to spend a week of vacation in the Luberon!

The villa is outside the village of Lourmarin but a shaded path can walk there (about 15 minutes). The site is very nice and very quiet and sheltered from the mistral: the room (studio) overlooks a terrace in front of a nice well maintained garden and a beautiful pool that awaits you. Garden beds are available. The interior of the villa is sober and tasteful. Excellent bedding. Very friendly welcome. Excellent place to spend a week of vacation in the Luberon!

Home from home - but better

The villa was situated just outside of Lourmarin amidst fruit and vine trees along a beautiful, quiet country lane. You could reach the small town of Lourmarin by car in three minutes or by walking down a small shadowed woodland path, with great views of the surrounding countryside, this took about fifteen minutes. Lourmarin is the perfect choice, it is a pretty town with many cafes, restaurants, boutiques and a very lovely chateau perched on a hill on its outskirts. It has a vibrant market on a Friday morning where artisans come and sell their wares and the quality of the produce is very good. Be early, as it can get busy. We were there at 8.30am, and at this time you could amble and look, without bumping into others. Staying at Villa Le Murier was like being home from home, but was better, as the weather was glorious for the whole two weeks (except one stormy day). It has everything there you could wish for and for us, a family of ten, having five bathrooms, four of them being en-suite was brilliant. The garden was a great size for children to play in, with the added bonus of a table tennis and petanque court and the swimming pool large enough to really swim in. We spent several nights eating out on the large covered terrace………..and the stars, there is no air pollution in Provence! Huge thanks to Walter who manages the property. He was so helpful, visiting us on several occasions to signpost us to places of interest and let us know what was happening locally. The gas for the barbecue ran out and a text to Walter fixed this immediately. He was always very friendly and accommodating and it was interesting to talk to him about all sorts of things. A wonderful holiday in a perfect villa and place……………we may be back one day!

    A beautiful oasis

A beautiful oasis very close to the village of Lourmarin. We have stayed in other areas this is the nicest of the Southern Luberon, with lovely walks all around. House is warm, comfortable, uncluttered and welcoming. Walter is a wonderful host and always delivered what was needed when we asked.

    Very high quality and tasteful

Villa Le Murier was for us one of the best holidays for a long time! We were greeted like dear friends and so we felt the whole time! The interior of the villa is very high quality and taste, the garden and the pool well maintained, many seats in the garden or on the large terrace available. So everyone will find his place! The support provided by Marie Christine and Walter is above average – questions are answered immediately, you get valuable tips for excursions, restaurants or just interesting stories about the place and the area! And the breakfast is wonderful! MC spoils her guests with jams, homemade brioche, eggs, fresh fruit, juices, cheese, … and nice and kind words, just beautiful when the day starts! A few more words to the villa: it is in walking distance to the town of Lourmarin, a beautiful walking path along the vineyards you are there in 15 min. Or you can use the bicycles made available by MC and Walter. We will definitely be back !!!

    Fabulous!

Our group of three couples had a wonderful stay in this truly lovely house. It is set in a very peaceful location on the outskirts of Lourmarin (a 15 minute walk away along a little track). The garden is very private, as it is screened around its perimeter with high hedges. There is plentiful outdoor furniture for dining, lounging by the pool side or sitting to read under one of the mature trees. There is also a bocci court available on one side of the house.

The house is generously proportioned, very well maintained and is beautifully presented and furnished. The beds were extremely comfortable, (so much so that we all tended to linger in bed a little too long in the morning).

Lourmarin is a dynamic little village offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and a colourful Friday market.

We also found this property to be very well located for exploring the countless other wonderful attractions on offer in Provence.

The weather was somewhat inclement during our week’s stay, but the property was just so lovely it didn’t matter! It really provided us with that wonderful Provencal atmosphere. We would also like to acknowledge Walter (the property manager); who provided us with a very warm welcome on our arrival. He provided valuable advice re local attractions, and was responsive to any enquiries we had during our stay. We treasured our stay at Villa Murier, and would all love to return one day! We would unreservedly recommend it!

    Comfy, well-situated house

For our third visit to Lourmarin, my friends and I rented Villa de Murier for a week and had a wonderful, relaxing time! Not only did we enjoy this very comfy, well-situated house for tootles everyday into other great markets in other charmingly interesting towns… we had WALTER, who makes sure you are happy! He has great restaurant suggestions, knows where to get the BEST rose, helps when there are problems, cajoles the beautiful MC into cooking for us, and tells wonderful stories! He has made us feel at home in Provence… we will always contact Walter, and Rent Our Home in Provence, when we head to France! We were 4 couples staying in the villa that is an easy 15 minute stroll into Lourmarin which has many good restaurants, shops, a fascinating castle(!), and one of the very best markets on Fridays! The house is very open and bright with a huge porch for dinners and just lounging. The kitchen is well-equipped and large enough for many cooks! And, the fireplace in the large living room worked beautifully as we all gathered there on a rainy night and sang old songs! The house is just outside town, surrounded by vineyard fields, so it is very quiet and feels very safe. It is easy driving to get to all the sites, towns and markets from this central location, too! We know we will return… thanks to Walter and MC for being the most attentive and charming hosts!

    Love Villa Murier

If you are thinking of staying at Villa Murier, do not hesitate. If my family and I ever have the opportunity to visit Lourmarin again we would all choose to stay here. This house is well maintained with all the comforts of home. 4 of the 5 bedrooms have its own bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped. We were 6 adults and 1 infant. We used the outdoor space most of the time since the weather was magnificent. Although there is no air conditioning, it was never a problem since the nights were so cool and you could sleep comfortably with the windows open. It is within walking distance to the quaint village of Lourmarin. Our stay at this home helped make our vacation a memorable one. I have stayed in a handful of homes over the years and this is truly a gem, like none other. Thank you for sharing your home.

    Convenient to lovely Lourmarin

Villa le Murier was the perfect vacation home for our group of eight. Convenient to lovely and lively (on market day!) Lourmarin, this location is a pleasant walk to the village. We recommend without reservation this home for anyone looking for a central Provence launching point for various excursions through nearby villages and countryside. You will have everything you need — plus Walter, your conscientious host.

Perfect villa in the beautiful Luberon Hills!

This villa was perfect for couples traveling together. We each had our own room with en suite bathroom and plenty of living space. Our host Walter was an excellent resource for information on what to see in the area. We loved Lourmarin (especially on market day) and so many of the other hilltop villages nearby. And the pool after a busy day was wonderful! Weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a mid September visit. We all left saying we will definitely be back! Thank you, Walter, from all of us!
