A vibrant villa perfectly located for social butterflies

Villa Romarin is a colourful, four-bedroom, villa-like property. Its proximity to the heart of Lourmarin makes it a popular choice for those who like to relax in poolside privacy while also participating in the activities and social aspects of the village, such as the lively Friday morning market or an evening pastis or glass of rosé in the square.

This is a house that has been recently (2020) renovated and redecorated by new owners. It’s set on 1,000m² in a luxury housing estate a stone’s throw from the heart Lourmarin. There is 240m² of living space at Villa Romarin, opening out onto a garden with a lovely 9×4m private pool. At the bottom of the garden is a gate which will take you directly onto a path that leads past the public tennis courts to the edge of Lourmarin, making the property just three minutes walk away from this amazing village.

Living area

On the ground floor of Villa Romarin there’s an entrance hall with cupboards and a guest toilet with small sink. The living room, which features a beautiful stone fireplace, has sofas, armchairs, 2 coffee tables, a flat screen TV, a floor lamp, 2 side tables. Its bay window opens onto the south terrace, on the swimming pool side.

The kitchen at Villa Romarin has a dining table and chairs and is fully equipped with new appliances: US fridge, dishwasher, classic oven, multifunction oven, sink, induction hob (3 burners). A separate laundry room houses a washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities.

There’s direct access from the kitchen to the outdoor area, which has a pretty terrace that has plenty of space for the tables, chairs and a plancha.


The bedrooms are on the upper floor, accessible by a staircase secured by a handrail.

  • Bedroom 1: Two 80x200cm beds, 2 bedside tables, lamps, wardrobe and cupboard, south view towards pool. Its bathrooms has a waxed concrete (beton ciré) shower, sink, mirror, towel rack.
  • Bedroom 2: 160x200cm bed, cupboards, private shower room with double sink, mirror, integrated toilet, heated towel rail.
  • Bedroom 3: 160x200cm bed, bedside tables, lamps, wardrobe, shelves, north view towards the Luberon.

There is a family bathroom with bath, heated towel rail and basin, as well as a separate toilet off the hallway.

In Bedroom 1, the two single beds can be joined to form a double bed, with mattress topper. Two extra 140×200 beds are available if needed.

Separate apartment

Villa Romarin also has a separate little apartment, which can accommodate an additional 2-3 people, and can be accessed via two entrances (front and back of the house).

The mezzanine bedroom has a 160x200cm bed, bedside tables, lamps, and two lovely skylight windows. There is a bathroom room with a shower, a sink, mirror and integrated WC. The dressing room has shelves and wardrobe and there is additional storage space.

It has its own living area, with a dining table for 4 people, a convertible sofa, armchair, coffee table and a fan. There is also a small library at your disposal. The kitchen is open-plan and has a dishwasher, fridge / freezer, gas hob, sink and some storage.

The garden

The property is enclosed by fencing and hedges, and is planted with olive trees, laurels, Mediterranean plants, etc. Villa Romarin has a lawn area perfect for games (football, badminton). Hedges and beautiful vegetation protect you from any visual nuisance.

The swimming pool is secured by an audible alarm. (the pool’s dimensions are 9m x 4m, depth: 1.20m – 1.80m.) There are 6 sun loungers and umbrellas at your disposal. The terrace, which is partly shaded by jasmine, has a dining area that seats up to 10 people and an additional table for four. There is also an outdoor sofa, armchairs and coffee table. 

There is one covered parking space on the property and three on the street.

If you like the social life of Lourmarin and love to sit at one of the cafés for your daily coffee and croissant, or glass of rosé, it’s just three minutes’ walk away, making Villa Romarin the perfect place to stay.

      An ideal location with the best of both worlds!

      Chez Marius is a comfortable villa in a small upmarket housing estate on the edge of the beautiful village of Lourmarin. The estate is very quiet with a pretty countryside of trees and fields behind the house. There is a gate in the hedge accessing a track leading past the tennis courts to the main road. Here there is a pedestrian crossing with a small gravel lane on the opposite side which brings you into the heart of Lourmarin – and all within 5 minutes or so. Yet , when in the back garden and elsewhere in the house it is very peaceful with only the sound of the birds and the occasional whack of a ball coming from the tennis courts.. It is an ideal location with the best of both worlds, peaceful and away from it all, yet very close to village life. We enjoyed walking in for coffee, to shop and to dine at the many restaurants. There is a small superette in the square and a large Super U supermarket a ten minute drive away. The villa itself is in good condition and very comfortable. We were two couples in our sixties and it suited us well. Having only one, very spacious, bathroom was not a problem, as there are two separates toilets, one with a washbasin. We had a few small issues with the property, which is why I am awarding four stars and not the five which is deserves for its location. There was no barbeque when we arrived, although it was listed on the Owners Direct site. There were no cushions on the wicker armchairs by the pool or on the wicker sunbeds, making them very uncomfortable. However once mentioned to Walter, the affable property manager, and to the owner when he called to welcome us, a very nice man who lives in an adjoining property, they were quickly provided. There is also no shade at the moment around the pool and in the garden area. We never sat by the pool but pulled the sunbeds into the small amount of shade provided by some pretty cherry and olive trees instead. A few umbrellas here would make all the difference. Our overall impression was of a comfortable large property in which a lot of thought had been given to the needs of guests within the house, but not so much in the outdoor spaces which is where most guests, especially from North European Countries, wish to spend their time. However, this being the first review, I fully expect that will be rectified. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chez Marius and Lourmarin and would definitely go back again to both.

      Exceeded our expectations

      Having just returned from a two week stay at Chez Marius, I can only describe the house and location as excellent. The welcome we received from Walter was warm and friendly and the house met and exceeded our expectations. The pool was private and well maintained, as were the gardens. My two boys also enjoyed the table tennis and my parents loved the proximity to the beautiful town, with its bars and galleries. The Friday market was fabulous, one of the best I have been to and it was such a bonus being able to walk instead of drive. I would recommend going early in the morning though as it is very popular. We would love to return in the future and Walter ensured that everything was provided during our stay.

      Great choice in a great location

      Booked through Walter at Rent Our Home in Provence, fantastic service from Walter himself, very helpful and responded to emails promptly and answered any queries and even organised a taxi to take us to/from the wedding we were attending 15km away. Chez Marius is a well positioned villa with private pool and parking and within 5 minute walking distance of the village of Lourmarin, a combination which is almost impossible to find in this very popular village. With 3 good size bedrooms, large bathroom and shower room and toilets, good size lounge area opening onto the patio and well equipped kitchen opening onto another patio area. Pool is a good size and very well maintained. Good quality linen, comfortable beds and an abundance of fluffy towels, Chez Marius had everything needed for a great holiday. Lourmarin is a great base for exploring Provence and within easy driving distance of Gordes, Bonnieux, Aix en Provence, Cucuron, Gorges du Verdon, Rousillion etc. Only about 45mins easy drive from Marseille Airport. Lourmarin itself has many restaurants and French boutique shops plus a great market each Friday and is definitely a place for people watching enjoying a meal and a drink. It also has regular Brocante markets (antiques etc) which are great for picking up French furniture, lighting etc. All in all Chez Marius was a great choice in a great location, highly recommended and Walter has a wonderful knowledge of the area and was most helpful and efficient.
