Stylish ‘maison de village’ in popular Lourmarin

Recently renovated to a high standard, this air-conditioned village house in Lourmarin is a rare find.

Maison des Cerises is a charming property set in the heart of one of the most popular villages in Provence. Newly renovated in December 2017, the house has also been beautifully furnished. It has two double bedrooms – both with en-suite bathrooms – and now boasts a terrace as well as air-conditioning, wifi, separate laundry (washer and drier) with White Company towels and linens.

The property is light and sunny, everything sparkles AND it’s just a few steps from free public parking, a myriad shops and restaurants, as well as the famous weekly Friday market. This is a real gem!

Lourmarin is a beautiful village in the Luberon region. As such it is certainly on the tourist map, but when you stay for a week, you see it’s quiet times too. This completely newly renovated 3 level village house is in a great location, with parking in a shared lot just metres from the door. Two double bedrooms each with ensuite. The lower one is a little dark, and could be better with air conditioning. Everything else was perfect. Top floor kitchen dining with a small balcony for eating out, middle floor with sitting room, and the main bedroom and bathroom, and lower floor with second bedroom, laundry including washer & dryer. The decor was perfect French provincial. Just a very short walk down to the bars, coffee, shopping and some fantastic restaurants. Market day was fun but beware the cheese merchant who cut us an enormous slice and said 80 euros. We are seasoned travellers! Walter the local host for the US based owners, gave great restaurant tips. We loved Number 9, in the village, La Feniere Bistro just outside and Alex at Curcuron. The region is full of villages to visit. I can recommend Maison des Cerises (Cherry House) whole heartedly.

I only wish our weekend could have been longer! Maison des Cerises is absolutely what you would wish for if you’re looking for a quintessentially Provençal break! It captures the charm of being a French village house beautifully, but with all the mod-cons (air conditioning such a bonus!) Centrally located in Lourmarin- a stone’s throw from the cafes, galleries, restaurants and market place – and yet such a oasis of calm. Free parking is a few metres away and Lourmarin is a scenic hour’s drive from Marseille airport. The house is a true gem – we will certainly be back!!

Wow what an oasis a short stroll from one of France’s pettiest villages which has the advantage of being active all year unlike most villages in Provence which become like ghost towns outside the summer. A peacefully quiet home to relax in which has been completely renovated. Great to have air conditioning and cool bedrooms to sleep in. Wonderful views on the terrace off a well equipped kitchen dining area even a BBQ. We will be back soon as it is rare to find a treasure like this.

We spent a wonderful long weekend at “Maison des Cerises”. Lourmarin is a straightforward journey from Marseilles airport (about 1.5 hours drive) mainly on the motorway. The house has been beautifully renovated in tasteful neutral colours and is calm and peaceful. It is equipped with everything you need, including the ever so important air conditioning and large American fridge! It was a joy to eat our supper on the upstairs terrace (off the spacious kitchen) and drink delicious local wine (from the nearby chateau) in to the early hours. The house is well situated a couple of minutes walk from the village centre and yet up a quiet street. It is also conveniently located for exploring the rest of the region, where there is so much to see and do. The downside of writing this review is that more people will hear about this gorgeous house and I hope that there is enough availability for us to come and stay again soon!

Enjoyed a wonderful few days in the beautiful “Maison des Cerises” A total escape away in lovely surroundings, we felt such an air of calm staying here, so peaceful. The house is perfectly positioned with a short stroll to the picturesque town of Lourmarin, where we enjoyed wandering around the streets, collecting our morning croissants, drinking coffee in the lovely cafes and sampling local produce at the market. The house is incredibly well equipped, everything in the kitchen you could wish for including a huge American fridge with a great wine cooler and ice machine…perfect for chilling our bottles of Rose. Beautifully decorated throughout with a lovely balcony from the kitchen area where we enjoyed the sun until late into the afternoon. The cherry trees outside the house were just in bloom when we arrived which was such a treat. A feature open fire was perfect for the cooler evenings in early April, although the house was really warm and cosy throughout. Super comfy beds with luxurious linen, with spacious and beautifully appointed bathrooms. We enjoyed many lovely walks in the local area, admiring the vineyards and enchanting countryside. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home, we look forward to returning again.

Lovely house, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, lovely terrace with stunning view, and with a cosy and luxurious feel. Great bathrooms and powerful hot showers. Super comfortable beds with expensive linen. So convenient for the shops in the town yet away from the noise and bustle. A real little oasis of calm. Was really very sad to leave. Will be booking again very soon!

I stayed for 4 days at Maison Cerises. It is a beautifully renovated (this year) town house a minutes walk from the village centre of Lourmarin. The house is situated in a quiet street with convenient parking. There are 2 double bedrooms (comfy beds!!) each has an ensuite bathroom. The main living room is light and airy and tastefully decorated with a working fireplace, TV and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is on the top floor with large French doors and with a good size balcony that has a lovely sunny outlook and you can eat outside comfortably. A brand new BBQ is a really handy addition to a well equipped kitchen. The house was spotless and the colour schemes fresh and neutral with the addition of antique painted furniture sourced and painted by the owner. This is not the usual Ikea rental, it is a home that is loved and cared for. It would suit 2 couples who want to enjoy being in town and who want to explore the beautiful countryside of the Luberon. I will definitely return and can recommend it.

Spent a wonderful 2 weeks in the beautifully restored home. So convenient for everything, a minutes stroll from the car park and just 5 to the village to collect our baguette each morning. So light and spacious, it was lovely to be in such a well equipped house with brand new appliances, a washer and a drier, air-conditioning, Gas BBQ, Netflix etc, everything new! Next time we come to the Luberon we will definitely return to Maisons des Cerises, thank you!
